Cooper Webb has already claimed the Championship at the AMA West Coast Supercross twice, but he is set to travel to Australia for the second time this year to attempt the AUS-X Open 2016 from November 12-13. Webb will be debuting globally in the premier 450cc class.
Having grabbed the 250cc championship for the second time this year, 20 year old Webb has since turned out to be the wild card in the World Supercross paddock.
After his thrilling final lap action with Chad Reed last year, he is keen to go back the AUS-X Open next month, apparently one of the best-loved events he has ever participated in.
Webb is said to be “so pumped” about coming back to the AUS-X Open this year. He stated that he “felt the love from the fans” in 2015 who offered so much supp. He especially appreciates his Australian following.
“I really felt all of the love from the fans down there last year, they supported me a lot. I was actually surprised at how many Australian fans I had, especially during night two with how hyped they were, and just in general; they were stoked with me being there, and I really appreciated that.” – Cooper Webb on returning to AUS-X Open 2016
Up against champs like Ryan Villopoto, World Supercross Champion four times over, who just announced that he will be racing two nights in the AUS-X Open, Webb’s stoked at the chance to face Villipoto for the very first time, as well as Chad Reed, his childhood hero.
“The rookie vs the veterans; I’ll be racing my childhood hero’s!”
He believes Ryan coming out of early retirement to compete reflects how unique the AUS-X Open is. Webb loves the vibe at the AUS-X Open,in fact it’s the primary reason he opted to participate.
“I can’t wait to see you all again in November!” exclaims a gleeful Cooper Webb.
The AUS-X Open is the most awesome action sports compo in the Southern Hemisphere. It mixes an international Supercross race with an FMX ‘Best Trick’ compo, and will feature the best riders from around the globe facing up to the best Australia has to offer. Once again this year’s event will include sound and light effect, pyrotechnics and more. Watch the excited Cooper Webb talk about his return to the AUS-X Open this November 12 -13 (Saturday and Sunday).
